Returning to pursue a love and a passion, Scott Coker-Padilla re-enters the world of interior design with interior design firm, SCokerPadilla Design Studio.
While studying at the Art Institute of Minnesota Coker-Padilla’s final project consisted of drafting a business plan. Thinking beyond the confines of the written word, ‘Gilt Trip Interior Design Studio’ came to life in the fall of 1997. After the Minneapolis doors opened, only a year past before the enterprise: recouped the start up costs, expanded from 3 sales associates to 15, added 5 additional NCIDQ Certified designers, began selling merchandise, and grossed 1.2 million dollars in sales. Within three years, Gilt Trip added branches in San Diego, CA; Mesa, AZ; and Dallas TX. Gilt Trip now experiences over 5 million dollars a year, has more than 300 employees, and a star studded clientele on both the East and West Coasts. The SCokerPadilla Design Studio plans to build upon the success of 'Gilt Trip Interior Designs Studio.'
In 2007, Coker- Padilla sold Gilt Trip Interior Designs to individual buyers, allowing him to focus on a more select clientele, and working on the Boards of several organizations like: Kansas City Passages, The Climb, Minneapolis AIDS Project Center, assorted PRIDE committees, ASID, IIDA, DIFFA, Who’s Who and MGRA.
Coker-Padilla has been featured in Architectural Digest, Home & Garden, House Beautiful, Metropolis, and Midwest Home and Garden magazines. Also during this time Coker-Padilla was sought out by TLC to create a television series, and won countless awards for his works. He also holds three Bachelor Degrees: BA of Architecture- Interior Design from the Art Institute of Minnesota, Business Management/Administration and Bachelors of Accounting from Purdue University.
